christmas traditions

As you all know, this year, I get to spend Christmas in Montana with Handsome and I am oh so very excited! I really really love it here so far! It's been snowy and cold but it's really beautiful! Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I'm so happy I get to spend it with the love of my life! We were kind of together for last Christmas- we liked each other, didn't want to see anyone else, but we hadn't hung out yet (he was still in Germany). So this will be our first Christmas together. When I think about our future and the many holidays we will get to spend together in the future, it makes me so happy to know that all of the traditions we will raise our family with can start this year.

So, I thought I would share some of the traditions Handsome and I want to start.

Matching pjs. He thinks I'm crazy but I'm so getting us matching flannel PJs and santa hats to wear Christmas Eve/Christmas morning

Chocolate chip pancakes. Every year on Christmas morning I want to make Christmas tree shaped chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast!

See Christmas lights. Of course I want us to put up our own, but I also want to go see other people's. I want us to get all bundled up, get hot chocolate, and then drive around the city looking at all of the pretty lights!

Christmas cards. By next Christmas, we'll likely be engaged, so once that happens we want to start sending Christmas cards every year to friends and family. I'm trying to convince him to wear matching sweaters and get one for our puppy too..but he refuses to dress up our dog! But I mean he'd do anything to make me happy, so next year expect to see plenty of doggy sweaters.

Bake cookies. Once we have kids, I want to spend Christmas Eve baking cookies for them to leave for Santa! Then, once they go to sleep Dj and I can eat them all and drink wine and enjoy each other's company :)

handsome loves the holidays!

It's no secret around here that I'm totally excited for the holidays this year. I love the holiday season to begin with, but this year I get to spend it with Handsome and nothing makes me happier. I can't wait to spend the first of many Christmases with this Handsome face.

Handsome also happens to love the holidays, so I thought he could take over the blog today and answer some fun holiday questions!
Hey handsome! What're you most excited about for the holiday season?
I'm most excited to spend time with my beautiful girl:)

Let's talk tradition. What was your favorite holiday tradition growing up, and what's one you'd like to start?
I like eating banana bread on Christmas morning and having ham for dinner. And opening presents with my family. I'd like to continue that once we have our own kids.

Tell us a few of the things on your wish list this year.
I'd say anything for my truck. Maybe some new boots, another jacket, and some warm flannels or something.

Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Years?
Christmas. It brings the family together and it's a really nice time of year.

If you could spend the holiday season doing anything you wanted, how would you want to spend it?
I'm a simple man. I just want to spend the holidays with my friends and family!

What're you thankful for?
I'm thankful for all of the amazing people I have in my life. Especially my amazing girlfriend who's become my very best friend :)

Thanks love! You're the sweetest. I love you!
I swear I didn't make him say any of that stuff ;)

But until then, here are my ten favorite things about the holidays!

one Red cups at Starbucks. As cliche and cheesy as that sounds, I just love how festive they are!
I just had my first one this week! It's been too hot up until now!!
two Snow. Now there's no snow where I'm from, and I'm sure I'll regret saying this as soon as I get to Montana, but I love going up north and playing in the snow! I'm also really excited to experience my first white Christmas this year! It's already snowing in Montana..

three The food. Thanksgiving and Christmas means lots and lots of good food, and an excuse to eat my weight in mashed potatoes. Yum! It also gives me an excuse to bake pretty much every day! Christmas morning Handsome and I are totally making chocolate chip pancakes.
four Christmas lights! Nothing makes me happier than driving around town and seeing everyone's festive homes lit up and decorated.
five Crafting. The holidays are the perfect time to try new Pinterest ideas. I'm really excited to make some ornaments and cute decorations that I want to bring to Handsome's house this year.
six Tradition. I'm going to do a whole other post on this one, but I love traditions that surround the holidays. I'm so excited to start new traditions with Handsome this year!!
seven Family. Any excuse to get together with the fam is great, but the holidays is such a good time to really appreciate the time we get to spend with them. Although I won't be spending Christmas with my family this year, I get to spend it with the love of my life and that makes me so happy. I love knowing that soon enough we'll be celebrating Christmas with our own family!
eight Gifts! I mean c'mon, who doesn't love getting presents?! But really, more than I like getting presents, I love giving them. I already have so many ideas for Handsome's gift. It's going to be awesome I can't wait.
I thought I'd share the best gift I've ever gotten. From Handsome. It was right when we started dating, so about a year ago. He made me this box that says "Whats inside is what I care about the most" and on the inside is a heart shaped mirror. He put little stickers, inside jokes, and the lyrics to my favorite songs on the box. Is he the sweetest, or is he the sweetest?! Gosh I love him.
nine No school. I think that's pretty self explanatory. I can't even begin to tell you how nice it'll be to have a month off of school.
ten Saving the best for last (even though I pretty much mentioned it in 1-9) but I am so beyond excited and thankful that I get to spend the holidays with Handsome this year, and hopefully every year from here on out. He has Christmas off of work, and this year will be our first Christmas actually together. We get to make memories, start traditions, and spend time together- which is all so precious to me. I love every minute I get to spend with him, but spending the holidays together will just be that much more special!

PS still taking questions for the Q&A post! Ask Handsome or me anything you want!! :)

winter in august?

Okay so I know that it's only August, but I'm getting so excited for winter! I live in Arizona, so of course winter here is only like 50 degrees, but I'm a wimp in the cold! I think 60 is cold (Crazy, I know!). My honey is moving to Montana soon though, and I'll be staying with him over my Christmas break... I'm so excited. It's going to be a major change though. I've never been anywhere that cold. Anyway, I started preparing for winter early this year! I hit up Nordstrom Rack and Last Chance and scored some amazing deals on some awesome stuff! I love jackets, boots, and vests, so here's what I think are some must-haves for this winter!

Here's where you can find these goodies:
I definitely suggest checking your local resale stores like the rack and last chance.  I got my Uggs for only $60 and my North Face for only $80 which is much less than the original retail price! I really love the bright color of the Hunter boots and I can't wait to wear them with my black Colombia vest and a long-sleeve shirt! I'm a little obsessed with the Uggs too...just because they're sparkly! They have them in pink too (a double whammy!) but I couldn't pass up the $60 dollar deal from Last Chance! They're in great condition for being used too.

It just needs to be winter already! Cute clothes, snow, and the best holidays...I can't wait!
