christmas traditions

As you all know, this year, I get to spend Christmas in Montana with Handsome and I am oh so very excited! I really really love it here so far! It's been snowy and cold but it's really beautiful! Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I'm so happy I get to spend it with the love of my life! We were kind of together for last Christmas- we liked each other, didn't want to see anyone else, but we hadn't hung out yet (he was still in Germany). So this will be our first Christmas together. When I think about our future and the many holidays we will get to spend together in the future, it makes me so happy to know that all of the traditions we will raise our family with can start this year.

So, I thought I would share some of the traditions Handsome and I want to start.

Matching pjs. He thinks I'm crazy but I'm so getting us matching flannel PJs and santa hats to wear Christmas Eve/Christmas morning

Chocolate chip pancakes. Every year on Christmas morning I want to make Christmas tree shaped chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast!

See Christmas lights. Of course I want us to put up our own, but I also want to go see other people's. I want us to get all bundled up, get hot chocolate, and then drive around the city looking at all of the pretty lights!

Christmas cards. By next Christmas, we'll likely be engaged, so once that happens we want to start sending Christmas cards every year to friends and family. I'm trying to convince him to wear matching sweaters and get one for our puppy too..but he refuses to dress up our dog! But I mean he'd do anything to make me happy, so next year expect to see plenty of doggy sweaters.

Bake cookies. Once we have kids, I want to spend Christmas Eve baking cookies for them to leave for Santa! Then, once they go to sleep Dj and I can eat them all and drink wine and enjoy each other's company :)

handsome loves the holidays!

It's no secret around here that I'm totally excited for the holidays this year. I love the holiday season to begin with, but this year I get to spend it with Handsome and nothing makes me happier. I can't wait to spend the first of many Christmases with this Handsome face.

Handsome also happens to love the holidays, so I thought he could take over the blog today and answer some fun holiday questions!
Hey handsome! What're you most excited about for the holiday season?
I'm most excited to spend time with my beautiful girl:)

Let's talk tradition. What was your favorite holiday tradition growing up, and what's one you'd like to start?
I like eating banana bread on Christmas morning and having ham for dinner. And opening presents with my family. I'd like to continue that once we have our own kids.

Tell us a few of the things on your wish list this year.
I'd say anything for my truck. Maybe some new boots, another jacket, and some warm flannels or something.

Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Years?
Christmas. It brings the family together and it's a really nice time of year.

If you could spend the holiday season doing anything you wanted, how would you want to spend it?
I'm a simple man. I just want to spend the holidays with my friends and family!

What're you thankful for?
I'm thankful for all of the amazing people I have in my life. Especially my amazing girlfriend who's become my very best friend :)

Thanks love! You're the sweetest. I love you!
I swear I didn't make him say any of that stuff ;)

oh hey handsome!

It's my favorite time of the month! I'm linking up again with Mallory and Stephanie for The Boys Behind the Blog! This is where our guys get a chance to take the spotlight and answer five questions every month!
Mal Smiles

1. Who is your favorite band or musician?
Right now I'd say my favorite is D Ruck. But Chris Young is a close second!
Southern State of Mind by Darius Rucker on Grooveshark

 2. What was the first tape or CD you owned? It was one of the Wow CD's. Or is it Now? I don't know. It was like Wow 5 or something. It's Now. 'Now That's What I Call Music.' Nice try though love ;)

3. Who was your first concert? I never went to many concerts when I was younger. So the first actual concert I went to was when I saw the Weekend in Belgium. Speaking of Belgium...take me back!!!
4. What's your favorite Thanksgiving food? I would say it would have to be my mom's sweet potato casserole. She mashes up sweet potatoes and puts walnuts in it and bakes the whole thing with marshmallows on top. It's amazing!

5. Complete the sentence: I am thankful for... I am thankful for the most amazing family and friends in the world. Which includes my very best friend who also happens to be the love of my life. :) Hey! That's me! He makes my heart happy

thank you, handsome

November is a month that we dedicate to being thankful, and today is a day we honor our country's heroes. I thought that it would be a good time to thank my hero.

Handsome,
It's almost been a year now since we've 'known' each other. It's been 352 days of staying up late talking about anything and everything, airport reunions and goodbyes, vacations, countless kisses, and constant laughter. We've been through so much, being so far away, but it has made us so strong and I wouldn't trade this past year for anything. You've been there for me through my ups and downs. Whether I get sad, or really tired and I get that crazy burst of energy and start laughing at everything, you put up with me and you show me an incredible love that I never thought I would experience.
Thank you. Thank you for being there, for loving me, and for making me feel like the most special girl in the entire world. You do so much for me, so much more than you know and I will forever be grateful. I'm so extremely blessed that I get to spend the rest of my life with you, and I will cherish every moment we get to spend together. The holidays, vacations, buying our first home, starting a family, and the lazy nights we stay in and order pizza and watch movies- I look forward to it all so much. I look forward to it because I get to experience it all with you. Thank you for being such a gentleman. You respect me, and you always consider my feelings. You hold the door, you open the car door, send me flowers, tell me I'm beautiful, call me just to tell me you love me. Could I be any luckier?! I truly appreciate every small, affectionate thing you do for me. I admire the man you are. You're responsible, caring, loving, strong, sexy, smart, and you have the biggest heart. You've made all of my dreams come true. You're everything I've ever wanted in a man, and more. So thank you. For everything! I love you with all my heart and a million times more than I did yesterday.
