embracing the weird

So, if you haven't figured it out yet...I'm weird. But I embrace it and I love it. We all have something that makes us special. We all do "weird" things. I'm insecure about a lot of things that I do differently, but I need to remember that these are the things that make me me. I'm starting to realize that my weird is also my unique. So here I am...telling you all of my quirks and embracing my weird unique.
Endlessly Beloved: Embrace What Makes You Unique.
I carry Sweet N Low in my wallet. Does that make me a 90 year old woman? Maybe. I like it better than sugar or any of the other sweeteners because it's pink. Not all coffee shops have it though. So, I always have a pack or two in my wallet in case I need it.

When I walk to the kitchen or bathroom or wherever in the middle of the night, I have to turn every light on along the way. I'm really afraid of the dark, and walking through the house in the pitch black is not an option. In Germany, Handsome's house had like 10 lights on the way from the living room to the bathroom. He worked nights so I was up alone all night, and every time I went to pee I had to turn all 10 lights on. We always joke around saying I need one of those flashlights you strap to your forehead!

I makes jokes when I'm uncomfortable. I always try to make heavy situations lighter, so I throw in jokes, which probably isn't always good. I also take them way too far. And when they're not funny, I keep talking to try to make them funnier. But I just sound dumb.  Along those lines, I'm inappropriate 90% of the time. Especially when I shouldn't be. I like to be sarcastic around people I don't really know (probably because I'm uncomfortable) and I don't have a filter most of the time. I think its funny, but people probably get the wrong idea sometimes.

I say YOLO and LOL sometimes a lot. They started off as jokes, but now I just say them. I know they're stupid and annoying, but that's why I say them. Handsome even bought us matching YOLO shirts as a joke when we first started talking! I also say things like "legit" and "literally" and "I'm dead" and "like" in like every sentence

I get major anxiety when I'm alone and I don't want to look dumb. For instance, if I'm meeting someone at a restaurant, I have to get there first, because I'm afraid I'll look stupid looking around the room for the person I'm meeting. When Handsome picks me up from the airport, I always get super anxious and nervous that he's going to see me before I see him, and I'll look dumb. If I'm at the store and I can't find what I'm looking for, I get freaked out. Solution: I pretend I'm on the phone. I KNOW, I'M AN IDIOT. But it makes me feel better so yolo.

What're some of your quirks? Embrace them!

  1. I am so there with ya on the meeting at the airport! Even though my boyfriend and I met over 10 times at the airport each time I was always anxious he would see me first and I would look silly!

  2. The jokes thing is me too. Serious things makes me uncomfortable and I'd just prefer to keep it light! Haha! The Sweet and Low in the wallet is hilarious, I've never heard of anyone doing that! Ha!

  4. Ha! I love that you started saying YOLO and LOL as jokes and now can't help it. And I always smirk when I'm uncomfortable- it used to get me in trouble a lot as a kid but I've been getting better at hiding it.

  5. omg that last one is so me. If I'm meeting someone out somewhere, I get there early & I'll watch for them in my car & then go meet up with them before they get inside. And I totally say YOLO... I don't mean to, it just happens.

  7. Today, I went to the art office to ask about a class and had to pace the hall way like five times before I could walk in. It calms my nerves and helps me think about what I want to say, but the people in the hallway probably think I'm crazy.

  8. Awe your cute! Everyone is weird and if they think they aren't they are even weirder. I love being weird and making situations awkward. It entertains me. I have to turn on all the lights in the dark too!

  10. I LOVE THIS. And If I can't find something in the store I walk out of the aisle and go back like 5 minutes later so people dont watch me struggle looking for it. Oh well. ALSO I really like the new layout, like I've said 110 times

  11. I totally embrace the weird. I make a lot of silly faces when I am uncomfortable and I dance in stores to make someone laugh or to just embarrass people. I say like way too often. Like too much! See what I did there! Wakka Wakka! ;)

  12. I'm so weird and awkward so I love this post!!! I say "jay kay" or sometimes even "jay slash kay". It started as a joke as well and somehow became habit. Dammit!!

  14. I might be a little weird myself. I tend to be sarcastic and joke around when I am uncomfortable as well...and when I am completely comfortable...which may be confusing to people. I always turn all the lights on when I am home alone. I am a little OCD and I check that the straightener is unplugged no less than three times before I leave the house. I check that my phone alarms ( I set like five in case I miss the first one or two) are set several times before I can fall asleep. I triple check that every door in the house is locked, even the ones we hardly ever use.

  15. Pretty sure I have ALL the same quirks! I can't do dark! When I lived in Tucson, I used to run to put the trash out if it was dark and then run back in like a crazy person. I justified my insane fear of the dark by using the perfectly legitimate "there is a pedophile that lives in our neighborhood" excuse.

  16. I was going to write down my quirks but I'm 99.99% sure they're identical to what you just wrote! ESPECIALLY the one about being afraid of the dark lol (and I say legit a lot too, my guy makes fun of me for it lol) My bathroom in my dorm (which is set up like an apartment) is literally across the hallway from my bedroom and I turn the hallway light on on the way there to make sure "no one's there" lmao. God, we're weird!

  17. How funny! I am the exact opposite in the middle of the night! I would rather stumble around in the dark, than turn a light on. :)
