annie is my soul sister

Have I mentioned that I love Bridesmaids? My two best friends and I know literally every single word to that movie. Sometimes I think Kristin Wiig (or at least Annie from the movie) is my soul sister. Here's why:

I'm awkward. That's no secret. When I'm uncomfortable, I make jokes which are usually terrible and awkward and inappropriate. Then I laugh like it was funny even though it wasn't. I trip a lot, too. I run into things all the time. Then I do that awkward thing where I look around and see if anyone noticed, and keep walking.

But sometimes I know people noticed so I do a little dance (if you want to call it that) to say "I'm okay." Do you feel awkward yet? Welcome to my life.

I was never good at talking to guys. I'm happy that Handsome and I reconnected over the phone before we were together in person, because I'm way too awkward to talk to guys in person if I don't know them. Even sometimes with Dj when he compliments me or says something sweet in person I get so flustered and I don't know what to say.

I never have money. I have a job and I make money from my blog and designs, but I always spend it. Whether I spend it on the blog (which is usually where it all goes), or I'm feeding my Starbucks/Chipotle/In-N-Out addiction, I cannot save money. I suck at it. Probably because I don't make a lot. But I'm in college, I'm supposed to be broke, right?
I'm a terrible dancer. I don't like to dance and I really can't dance. Unless vodka is telling me I can.
I have no clue what I want to do with my life. I'm getting a degree in psychology with minors in spanish and business, but I don't know what I'm going to do with it. First I wanted to be a psychiatrist, then a neurologist, then a nurse, teacher, and an industrial psychologist. Now I'm thinking about criminal psychology, but I'm sure that'll change in the next week or so. Sometimes it can be really stressful/scary not knowing what you want to do. I know that once I graduate I'll move in with Dj and get my masters degree online, but other than that I have no clue.
Last but not least, I'm bad at making friends. I'm awkward, shy, sarcastic and I'm bad at small talk so I'm not one for making a lot of new friends. I suck
I could literally go on and on. But now I'm going to go watch Bridesmaids because its been way too long since I've seen it and by way too long I mean its been about a month.

  1. Blasphemy! You got a friend in me! (Sang in the Toy Story theme). I'm so with you on some of these. And this is definitely one of my favorite movies!

  2. oh my gosh. I too suck at making friends, for the EXACT same reasons as you. YAY, not that we can't make friends, but that we are alike in that aspect lol I do make friends if they realize the more time they spend with me, the more relaxed I become and can be more "me".

  3. Oh how i love bridesmaids! I am right there with you I am so awkward when meeting new people. My awkwardness has been taken to a whole new level while trying to make friends here in Iceland. Adding in a language barrier has just made me suck a bit more at making friends!

  4. well this is an adorable post. and i'm sure you're super charming in real life - or maybe terribly awkward haha just kidding - but just rock it :) and most people don't know what they want to do with their lives, for a long time. i'm still figuring that out.

  5. Oh gosh! I seriously have no idea what I'm going to do with my life! I had plans of getting into journalism but I got Computer Science diploma in 2013 and I am currently doing part time high school guide job! Can you guess there's something wrong?
High Five! I'm a terrible dancer too!

  7. Talking to new people, either guys or girls, is incredibly hard and awkward. I wish there were an easier way to make friends!

  8. I graduated with an Industrial psychology major! I loved it! You are too funny girl. I can relate to so many of those things, especially the being awkward and not being able to dance, ha!

  9. So, I'm pretty sure that we would be great friends. You pretty much just described my sweet, sweet, awkward life and that makes me so happy. Except the talking to guys thing...that doesn't make me happy because I suck at that and being currently single...yikes. It's not so pretty. YAY for text messaging! Coming over from Amanda's blog and I can't wait to read more!

  11. I hate to admit I've never seen Bridesmaids! I want to sooooooo bad!! It's always looked hilarious to me, but I've just never had the chance to watch the dang movie! I need to get on that!!

  12. I totally and completely relate to the "bad at making friends." Once I got friends I'm totally fine around people. However, I'm so awkward when I first meet people. I met the husband on a blind date... talk about awkward!

  13. Um but we could be the same person. I am SO awkward in person...and tripping over my own feet is a regular occurrence. Also making new friends is so damn hard!!

  14. I can't dance and, even though I'm technically in my career, I have no idea what I want to do with my life either. I'm definitely not afraid of flying though so that awkward plane moment would not have happened to me. :p

  15. Hahaha I love bridesmaids! This is too funny! I can definitely relate to bad at making friends friends one. Small talk is just not really my thing!

  18. Small talk is also not my thing. There always seems to be that awkward period of silence. And then the weather is brought up.

  19. Hi! I'm visiting from Amanda's blog. I can so relate! I have no friends. Did I just say that aloud? Because of you, I will now rent/watch Bridesmaids. Yes, I've never watched it.
Going to check out your sparkle blog too.

  22. I think you just described you, me, and like 20 billion other women out there. Does anyone actually know how to dance? If someone does, and they live close to Chicago, can you come teach me, because I suck at it. Anywho, B, I love you! You are an amazing person, blogger, and friend. When I started blogging, no one else actually made me feel as welcome as you did. And now, cause of you, I am making more online friends, and becoming flippin awesome (que Brad Paisley song).

btw, friends are so over rated. Sure I have a couple, but when you are new at being friends, it like you are dating but not able to sleep with them. And you have to roll up all of your awkwardness into a ball and throw it into the back of your closet, cause you never know what that person may think. Yeah, it sucks.

But, now I know that you are just like me, and wonder when you are making a trip to Chicago?

  23. LOVE this movie! Seriously one of the best EVER!
And you're not bad at making friends... you reeled ME in anyway! :)

  24. THIS IS ME!!! I'm terrible at dancing , it's a wedding happening around me but I'm literally leaving every event because of that damn dancing thing.
PS: saving money? It has never been my thing.

  25. I love this post. So funny! And Chipotle is totally a good way to spend your hard-earned cash...at least that's also what I tell myself. And when we aren't going to Chipotle, we make it at home. Oh yeah!

I also feel ya on the whole changing careers things. I started off in elementary education, then a nurse (until my husband burned his damn arm and I almost passed out), then education, now psychology. To clarify, education is still there (so I didn't waste all that time and money) since I'm getting a master's in educational psychology, but I teetered on going into forensic psychology.

  29. I changed my mind a BILLION times. So much that people stopped taking me seriously. Up until age twenty, I was going to become an actress. No joke. That dream changed and I wanted to be a therapist, then forensic psychology, medical doctor, nurse, cosmetologist, teacher, and THEN I got my master's in counseling. About six months to one year into it, I knew that I didn't want to pursue that field any longer. I was already a year invested with one to go, I finished it out. I might as well. It's two years later, I still haven't used it (because I quit the job that I had in the field two weeks after graduation). I decided to start my own business. About seven months into it, I quit. Now, 1.5 years later (which is now) and I'm starting it again but for real.

Just remember you don't have to figure it out right away. I'm almost 28 and just figuring it out.

  31. Astrapophobia is another common phobia. According to research this phobia is third among citizens of the United States. While it can affect people at any age, children who suffer from this fear should not necessarily be labeled as astraphobic. According to the phobia dictionary, astrapophobia is the fear of thunder and lightning. If a person fears only thunder and that is known as brontophobia. lern more..http://all-about-psychiatry.com/
