finding the beauty

Life is beautiful. People are beautiful. I believe that there is beauty to be found anywhere and everywhere. I believe that this is something we often take for granted. I wanted to share a few things we can do to help us appreciate the beauty of our everyday lives.

Finding the beauty in yourself.
When you look into the mirror, what do you think? Personally, I'm often unhappy with what I see. I see my stomach that I wish was flatter and my legs that I wish were more toned, and I know I'm not the only one that has a somewhat negative self image. No more. Every morning when you look into the mirror, think of three things you really love about yourself. Whether its how good your hair looks today or how skinny your new jeans make you look, compliment yourself. You're beautiful, and believing that starts with you. The more confident you feel about yourself, the more your beauty will radiate to others.

in nature
Everything we experience is beautiful. When you're walking outdoors, stop to take a deep breath of fresh air. Take in the blue sky and green grass. There's really nothing more beautiful than nature. Coming from the desert, seeing green grass and beautiful flowers can take my breath away. When I was in Germany, we were surrounded by green fields with patches of brilliant yellow flowers, and its something I will never forget. It was surreal.

in experiences
New experiences make unforgettable memories. There's nothing more amazing than experiencing something new and exciting. Trying new things, traveling to new places, meeting new people, making new memories...beautiful! Sometimes we take the moment for granted. We don't appreciate what we're experiencing until it becomes a memory. Cherish your moments.

in opportunities
Opportunities to begin new things can be intimidating. A new job, school, moving to a new city...it's all a big change. Sure, change is scary. But I think we should always take advantage of these things because opportunity leads to beautiful adventures.

in others
Not just physically, but its important to see the beauty in people's personalities and your relationships. Love is a beautiful thing, and so is friendship. Sometimes we take advantage of the relationships we share with those close to us. Life's too short. Never stop appreciating those around you and never stop telling them you love them.

and most importantly...

in your mistakes
I believe everything happens for a reason. Every person that comes into our life does so to either make our lives better or to teach us a lesson. We shouldn't look at mistakes and regrets as things that we wished never happened, but rather as the bumps in the road that got us where we are today.

P.S. Thank you to everyone who has submitted questions for my Q&A post! I probably won't post it for a couple of weeks, so if you have something you want to know, ask away!! :)

  2. That last point is so true. I always tell people, especially when they are going through a tough time, that everything will work as it should. It might not work out like you want it to and the end result might be nothing like you imagined, but it will be as it should.

  3. This was awesome! I try to see the beautiful in everyone else, but it's so hard when it comes to seeing it in ourselves, isn't it?! I completely agree that our mistakes can be beautiful, even if they don't seem like it at first. For better or worst, our past helps contribute to who we will or won't be in the future and we should learn to accept them. Yer so smert! :)

  6. I guess, I'll never find the beauty in everything, but it's a great blog. Surely not in myself :) I'm learning from my mistakes by telling myself ' Oh but you changed it ' right!
