my european adventure!

So my boyfriend lives in Germany. He's almost 6,000 miles away. I last saw him in February, and when he left, I thought it would be almost six months until I saw him again when he was supposed to come home.  Six months! I knew it was going to be so hard to be away from him for that long, but I also knew our relationship was strong enough to survive it.  Of course I had thought about going to visit him, but a plane ticket across the world is pretty damn expensive! I was a little bummed and I missed him a lot, until one day my mom told me we were going to start saving up for a plane ticket! We had a countdown of like 80 days going haha, and then the day was finally here! After about 17 hours of traveling, I finally landed at the Frankfurt airport! I'll never forget turning the corner and seeing his handsome face standing there holding a beautiful bouquet of roses and wearing a lime green YOLO shirt.

Funny story on that: When we first started talking, I said YOLO a lot (as a joke) and so he started saying it too! One day we joked about getting matching YOLO shirts and of course he went out and ordered two bright lime green shirts with a huge YOLO written on it! Anyway, I was worried I wouldn't find him in the airport, so he wore that shirt so there was no way I wouldn't see him!

Seeing him for the first time at the airport was magical! It was so perfect being with him again. We always said, "The longer the wait, the sweeter the kiss," and it couldn't be more true! Over the course of the next two months, we shared an amazing and unforgettable adventure, and our relationship grew so much more than we could have ever imagined.

The first big thing we did on our trip was visit Europa Park in Rust, Germany. It's like Disneyland, but it's Europe themed! Each part of the theme park is based on a certain country- it's so cool! And the rides are so fun! Our favorites were the Blue Fire and Wodan! They were so fast and one even went upside down!

The big wooden roller coaster! It was so fast! :)
Can you tell he's screaming like a little girl?! :)

It was so much fun and when we first got there the weather was beautiful! But then, of course, it started raining. A lot! (Which will become a common theme on all of our fun trips) We were so cold and so wet; we had to buy ponchos! And of course, we totally rocked them!

Our next adventure was to Garmisch, Germany to a resort called Edelweiss with Dj, his best friend Justin, and Justin's wife Chelsea (we call them Chustin!) . The drive there was long, but I can definitely say it was absolutely worth it! I was amazed at the fact that there was snow on the mountains, and it was the middle of June! Coming from Arizona, I never see snow, let alone in the middle of summer! It was absolutely beautiful there, and I wouldn't have wanted to be there with anyone else.  The picture was the view from our hotel room, and it was breathtaking! So we got dinner and some drinks the first night we were there, and then we passed out- we were exhausted from the drive there!

The second day we were there we got to visit Neuschwanstein.  It's an amazing castle! We got to go inside and see so many cool things like the king's bedroom and the throne room! I had never seen anything like it, and I was in awe! (Dj always calls me his princess and then he takes me to a castle! I'm one lucky girl!)

Our next road trip was to Brussels, Belgium. Since our trip, whenever I hear the word "Belgium" I get hungry. We ate so much it was ridiculous! First we had some macaroons, and then dinner, and then chocolate, and waflles, and more macaroons! It was probably the best day ever because eating is my life! :) It was my first time having a macaroon, and it was delicious! As was all the other food. I had tried Belgian chocolate before (he had sent me a box from the last time he went- isn't he sweet?!) But it was so cool to go into the shop and see all of the delectable chocolates! The waffles were amazing too. Mine had chocolate and strawberries on it (yum!) and Dj's had....well I'm not really sure but it was a huge mountain of yummy stuff

And of course, it starred to rain! It was so cold! We had to buy an umbrella (I think we have umbrellas from three different countries now haha!)

Our next adventure, and probably my favorite, was to Amsterdam! Talk about an amazing city! We went for Chustin's birthday (they're a day apart so we got to celebrate both!) We spent two nights in this wonderful city and it was a blast!

We went out both nights, saw the red light district, drank a little too much, got down on some karaoke, and made a lot of memories! Our first night we went on a bar crawl where we went to five bars, got free shots (yay) and got totally crazy! I loved it! It was nice being able to go to bars and not worry about being under 21!

Our second day in Amsterdam we visited the Heineken factory. We saw how the beer was made, learned the history behind it, learned how to pour it, and of course got to taste it (I'm not a big fan of beer, but Heineken is one of Dj's favorites!) It was definitely a cool experience, and I got a Heineken bottle with my name printed on it!

On my handsome man's last break from work, we took a trip to Heidelberg, a beautiful city in Germany. Fun Fact: Heidelberg is the oldest university town in Germany! It was absolutely amazing! We got gelato, Starbucks (thank goodness because I was going through withdrawals!), admired the beautiful and romantic scenery, and visited the Heidelberg Castle. It was the perfect way to spend one of our last free days together before I left! My favorite part, though, was carving our initials into a tree at the castle! It's something I've always wanted to do! I think it's cute :)

We definitely got to experience a lot of cool things together. Two months is the longest we've spent together consecutively, and living together only made our relationship stronger! My favorite part of the whole trip was just experiencing the little things with the man I love. Grocery shopping, cooking, going out to eat, even laundry was so much better with him by my side! I am so head over heels in love with him and spending that time with him just solidified everything we felt about each other!

Experiencing both Europe and love like I did this summer is something that I truly hope every person has a chance to do in their lifetime!

With endless love,
Brianna.
