california!

Handsome and I took a trip to California this weekend! It was perfect- absolutely perfect. It's been nice having him home because we've gotten to spend a lot of time together. This weekend was the best though because we got to spend the whole time together!

We left early Friday morning. What's a good road trip without a Starbs run to start if off?!
The drive there wasn't bad because we were headed to his brother's house who only lives about four and a half hours away.

Here's my obligatory cheesy "we made it to california" picture.
So Friday night we spent at his brothers. It was my first time meeting his brother, sister-in-law, and nephews. They were a good time, and his nephews are the cutest! We just hung out, watched the Dodgers game, and got sushi (teriyaki chicken for me because I'm not a sushi fan)

The next morning we were up bright and early (but not really that early it was like 9) and got ready for Six Flags! I love roller coasters and so does Handsome. I'd never been to Six Flags though, and he talks about it all the time, so it was definitely something we were excited about!
The lines were long- but that was expected. At least the weather was nice! The rides were crazy intense. I'm used to the typical Disneyland ride which has got nothin' on Magic Mountain!
It was a fun day and I wouldn't have wanted to spend it with anyone else! He's so cute I can't get over it.
Once it got dark out, the park turned into what they call Fright Fest. It was really dark and they had people dressed up like zombies and monsters and stuff and they were going around scaring the shit out of people. Which was fun to watch- but I was looking over my shoulder every two seconds and I was scared out of my mind. I hate when things pop out at me or sneak up on me. Ugh.
They also had this band playing that was dressed up like creepy Halloween-y people.

So as soon as we leave Six Flags where do we go? In-N-Out. Typical. I literally could eat that stuff all day every day. Handsome loves it too so I'm thinking we should have it at our wedding.
Just looking at this picture again is making me hungry! By the way I ate more than him so that's good...

We drove to San Clemente that night to stay with a family friend, and wow their house was adorable! We were so tired we passed out. We woke up the next morning, had breakfast outside and enjoyed the amazing weather. Take me back.
So, this isn't the prettiest picture but this was my first view of the ocean on the trip. We headed to Carlsbad Sunday morning.
And we spent the day on the beach. The water was freezing, but that didn't stop Dj from getting right in. He was like a little kid playing in the waves, it was cute. I love him.
This picture was pre-sunburn by the way.

For dinner we went to this little Mexican place. They had like four different kinds of salsa and carne asada fries. Mmm! If you're not from around here, I feel bad for you because we have some amazing Mexican food.
We walked around Carlsbad for a while and then headed back towards the beach to watch the sunset. It was beautiful. I could get used to that- spending every evening with the man of my dreams watching the sunset at the beach!? Why can't my life be like a movie.

After the sun set, we headed to Cold Stone (oops) It was so good though!
Monday morning we headed home early. The trip was way too short. There are our "back in Arizona" faces. Boo.

It was really an amazing trip. I love every minute I get to spend with that man, but its always fun when we get to go do new things together. Sunday especially. It was an absolutely perfect day. We just got to relax and do whatever we wanted. I wish every single day could be just like that. Walking around enjoying each others company and taking in all of the beauty around us was so surreal. Its experiences like this that make me realize just how lucky I am and just how much I have to be thankful for. Dj has been such a blessing to me and I'm so thankful that when we do get to spend time together, it's always perfect. It sucks not being able to be together, but every second we are together makes the waiting so worth it! I can't wait for the day I can leave here and go be with him!
soon soon soon

What did you do this weekend?

  7. Your trip looks amazing! we live in oregon but haven't been down to CA in a couple of years now. Probably about time to hit up some ol' amusement parks again anyway. that superman ride--i don't know if my husband or my little guy would pee his pants first. or if said pee would be out of fear or enthusiasm for all things superhero. :)

  8. Wow that looks like a fantastic trip! I could use a fun trip somewhere like that. I haven't done a whole lot of anything since having my daughter at the beginning of this year but I'm hoping to do a lot more next summer when she is a little older and able to have more fun on trips like this!
